Czar Nicholas II commissioned Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii to take a photographic survey of Russia. The catch: he took three black-and-white photos at a time, each with a red, blue, or green filter. So now we have the technology to put 'em together... I've never seen anything like this before.
