Salad Fingers' gonna mess you up

This is not exactly not-work-safe, but it's plenty creepy.

Maybe you've already read this

b/c it's frm mcswy's:

It was New Year's Eve, and we were slow dancing at Karin Daly's seventeenth-birthday party. Two days previously, the FDA had given its stamp of approval to a drug named Prozac. Annette and I were the last two wallflowers, and only danced at Karin's insistence. Nobody was sitting this one out. That song. We began by holding each other at the elbows, then biceps, triceps, and shoulders, until finally we became interlocked about the neck. Someone later commented that we resembled a reverse full nelson.

impact'd deeply.

i'm sure everyone's seen/heard of this shit, but they sent this fucking thing into space to shoot this other thing right the fuck into a comet, for crissakes. shit went everywhere.

who are the tech wizards who came up with that one?

right, so i've been using 'myTunes' to glom off co-workers who appear on my network, ushering files into my iTunes and never looking back. as i started to listen to these new gems yesterday, i noticed occasional skipping, cracking and popping, etc. is the transfer to blame for the degredation of quality, or is it likely that all the songs in the (comprehensive and phantasmic) library that has disappeared forever are distorted in their original form?

any takers?

Far, Far Away Redux

In conjunction with CH's earlier post... Tatooine has been found.

how far, far is far, far away?

Andromeda
Too obvious, and too close. The only argument for this "whirlpool" galaxy is its glowing core—just like the one that Luke, Leia, and the droids gaze upon at the end of Empire

NextGen is back

I used to love reading this magazine -- I mean, I remember their Half-Life 1 preview. I'm not sure how or why, but it's back.

happy 6th level, bugbear!

that's right, squire. after kyan vyblade's legendary re-incarnation as a bugbear, he's clawed, grappled and chewed jugular on his way to level 6 (also known at the realm of multiple attacks). you are cordially invited to join me in celebration of this momentous occasion.

Le nouveau Jerk Store

So i tried setting up a new bbs-based system for the jerk store, as per our earlier attempts to get away from (fucking) blogger. Check it out here.

Open up a user account, and be a jackass, whydoncha.

the british know 'racism' when they see it.

from the bbc:

Denmark jails 'racist' pizza man

Aage Bjerre acted in protest against the French and German governments' opposition to the US-led war in Iraq.

He will now serve an eight-day sentence at a minimum security prison, the Associated Press reports.

"I'm doing it to show my sympathy with the United States," he said. He refused to pay a 5,000-kroner (£461;$800) fine.

there is scant a literati who hasn't griped about the pervasive missaplication of quotes, that's for sure. but when a british journalist puts racism in quotes to describe anti-german and -french sentiment, be sure that they are used quite intentionally.

This... this is wonderful

On the way back, when I first sat on the train (still with pants on) some guy started picking a fight with me... Apparently, when I brushed by him to sit behind where he was standing, he thought I was being rude...

Three stops later I was slated to take off my pants. I was scared to death. I felt like he would take that as the ultimate insult and start something...

Then came my turn. I considered backing out, but I went ahead and took off my pants right in front of him. The moment I dropped the pants, he cracked up. We exchanged a smile, and I got on the other train without my pants. I wouldn't have guessed it, but taking off your pants appears to be the best way to end otherwise uncomfortable confrontations.

Old Guy 1:
Uh oh, look ... here comes "Katie" again! Watch, they're holding hands now, but she's gonna storm out soon.
(Dippold and Todd begin arguing at the counter)
Old Guy 2: Here it comes, here it comes!
Dippold (rushing out): I can't believe you're doing this.
Todd: Come back ... come back! Katie! (exits)
Old Guy 1: See, I told you! "Come back, Katie!" Ha ha haa, s'like that every time... (whole table cracks up)
Old Guy 2: What are we, in a time warp?

More.

Tuesday is for Lovers.

Wednesday if for kicking the shit out of your friends on up to NINE NEW LEVELS.

We need a big showing this week, kids. Three players are not enough to experience the incredible awesominity of these crazy new levels.

Particularly Turf. I say we need about nine people in that tiny fucking space to really enjoy it. You'd think parking that Warthog in an alley and ripping shit with that autocannon would be a good idea, until 5 seconds later when some fucker jumps from behind a crate with a bruteshot and sends you flying.

Freedom's on the march

... to Karl Rove's funeral, that is.

MPAA / RIAA = Retards

"We stated that the raid was the equivalent of 421 burners, as we need to put these operations in perspective based on burning capacity and output, not the number of physical slots for the discs," Weiss explained. "Since they burn 4x burners -- it is roughly 4xs the numbers of burners."

Read more about their hugely botched raid.

The Jerk Store at 500.

This may have slipped other people's attention, as it did mine. Allow me to belatedly commemorate our 500th post.

I suppose just about any post would've done. There's something particularly appropriate about it being that one. Perhaps the Vampiric Nature of our social relations is what makes it so...

...fitting.

Good morning

Bad news.

Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after three blasts on the Underground network and another on a double-decker bus in London... UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks... An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks. London's police chief Sir Ian Blair said there had been "many casualties" but it was too early to put a figure to those killed or injured... Scotland Yard said explosions have been reported at Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate.

Eyewitness accounts, photographs.

The Shit is On

Get your flame-retardant suits on, gentlemen, Sandra Day O'Conner just retired from the Supreme Court. Will this be the final straw that throws DC into a conflagration of epic proportions, or will Bush maybe show a glimmer of understanding and not try to appoint someone who wants to murder homosexuals?
